GlacierMIP4 is a community effort to project the future global glacier mass change and corresponding sea-level contribution of all glaciers on Earth outside the ice sheets using different glacier models with a focus on informing the IPCC’s Seventh Assessment Report (AR7).
In addition, we aim to analyse inter-model differences by examining the individual components of simulated mass balances (accumulation, melt, runoff, refreezing, frontal ablation).
The GlacierMIP4 protocol defines the experimental design for GlacierMIP4 and aims to standardize the experimental setups for glacier model simulation, using standardized time periods and datasets to initialize and force the glacier models.
