The International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation (IYGP) 2025 began this week with a hybrid launch event that included a high-level plenary opening and a series of online side events aiming to raise awareness, stimulate action, and attract funding.
Climate and Cryosphere hosted a side event on Impacts of Changes in the Mountain Cryosphere (IC-MontC), featuring a series of researchers and scientists who gave brief presentations further exploring many of the key messages conveyed by the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation and highlighting the importance of glaciers worldwide.
