CliC 2012 Steering Group Meeting Report Available

width="250"The CliC Scientific Steering Group (SSG) had their annual meeting at the Research Center for Climate and Cryosphere at the University of Innsbruck in Innsbruck, Austria from 12-16 March 2012. Many issues were covered including: the importance of increased knowledge of cryosphere in helping the development of emerging climate services, the need for overall strengthening of CliC contributions to climate model development and climate prediction, and the current status of CliC IPO. Several new directions and efforts were discussed such as: developing an efficient CliC outreach program, better organised reporting from CliC-sponsored workshops, and how to effectively attract leading scientists to CliC activities and future initiatives. CliC’s sponsors and stakeholders contributed with updates that could further these ideas and strengthen CliC, particularly in the area of climate predictability, prediction and projection. As a way to get to know some of the local researchers and share CliC efforts with them, a joint Science day was held at the University of Innsbruck involving both CliC and local researchers working on cryospheric projects. Special thanks to Helmut Rott for hosting the session with outstanding hospitality and for the excellent local support to the meeting. Download the meeting report here, or go to the WCRP website.
