As part of the 9th Session of the CliC Scientific Steering Group, held 4-7 February 2013 at the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) in Potsdam, Germany, a joint Alfred Wegener Institute of Polar and Marine Research (AWI) / Climate and Cryosphere (CliC) science symposium was held. The afternoon contained talks introducing the AWI, WCRP, IASC, SCAR and new CliC objectives, as well as presentations from researchers in the fields of global and regional climate, sea ice and more. It also featured a presentation by Mark Drinkwater from ESA on some of the latest developments in cryosphere oriented satellites.
