The SIMIP Scientific Steering Group (SSG) is initiating the development of two community papers on Arctic and Antarctic sea ice based on CMIP7 simulations, with the goal of providing timely syntheses for the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report (AR7).
The CMIP6 Arctic and Antarctic sea ice overview papers were major achievements of the SIMIP community, providing important assessments of model performance and future projections. As we move into CMIP7, we would like to build on this success while ensuring that the new papers address emerging scientific questions, highlight meaningful advances in climate models, and provide insights relevant to both the research community and decision-makers.
To help shape the scope and priorities of these papers, we invite you to complete a short survey here.

We encourage you to think beyond simply updating CMIP6 results and to consider what new understanding or advances CMIP7 may allow us to assess.

You are welcome to discuss ideas with colleagues and submit a joint response if you wish. Please note that participation in this survey is not required to be involved in the community papers. This initial consultation is intended to help define the scientific scope of the studies. A separate call for expressions of interest in contributing to the analysis, writing, and review process will follow later this summer.
