WATCH LIVE: Scientists issue “An S.O.S. from the Poles to World Leaders at COP29”
A message from BEPSII, ASPeCt, CATCH, QuIESCENT, and PACES:
Following our contributions during the first week of events at COP29, members of BEPSII, ASPeCt, CATCH, QuIESCENT, and PACES have recognized the urgent need for a unified statement from the scientific community addressing the cryosphere. We are deeply concerned about the current state of the climate and the insufficient progress observed in ongoing negotiations.
In response, we have prepared an open letter titled “An S.O.S. from the Poles to World Leaders at COP29” to highlight these concerns and stress the critical need for immediate action. This statement has already been endorsed by several major international organizations.
We warmly invite you to attend the presentation and reading of this letter, which will take place at the Cryosphere Pavilion of COP29 tomorrow, Friday, 22 November, at 1:00 PM local time in Baku (10:00 AM CET)
