A recent study published in Global Biogeochemical Cycles found the northern permafrost region emits more greenhouse gases than it captures. This study was co-authored by members of the Permafrost Carbon Network (PCN), a group co-sponsored by CliC.

Founded in 2011, the PCN includes working groups designed to synthesize ongoing permafrost carbon research which will produce new knowledge to quantify the role of permafrost carbon in driving climate change in the 21st century and beyond.
