20 March 2025: As part of the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation 2025, a joint celebration of the World Day for Glaciers and World Water Day was organized to highlight the interconnected challenges of water security and climate change.
This combined event served as a platform for dialogue and action regarding the state of the world’s glaciers and the impacts of the melting cryosphere on global water, food and energy security. The event also included a brainstorming session to lay the groundwork for the upcoming Decade of Action for Cryospheric Sciences (2025–2034). CliC was represented at the event by Keith Alverson (IPO Executive Director) and three members of our Scientific Steering Group: Mine Islar, Miriam Jackson, and Yao Tandong.
